Translation of "Mean{~average}"

A short question :

For this kind of record :

Mean{~average}

Shall I translate by :

Moyenne{~moyenne}

Or is this enough :

Moyenne

(Mean : Moyenne and average = moyenne)

Thanks,

Magali

Hi Magali,

Thanks for your email, which I've converted to a forum question.

When we say:

Aaa{~Bbb}

Here Aaa is text to translate and {~Bbb} is information for the translator only.

The latter serves to:
(a) distinguish the phrase from other meanings of "Aaa"
(b) clarify to the translator what the meaning/context is.

When Omniscope Evo applies translation, it will remove all {~...} from the text. So you simply need to translate Aaa only, and don't even copy the {~Bbb} part.

For example:

  • Mean
    This is unclear, how should you translate it?

  • Mean{~nasty}
    Translate as:
    Méchant

  • Mean{~average}
    Translate as:
    Moyenne

If you did in fact translate Mean{~average} as Moyenne{~average} or Moyenne{~moyenne}, it's fine. Omniscope Evo will display just Moyenne.

I hope that's clear!

Best,

Steve

Very clear, thanks Steve !
