Dependency Wheel - Multidirectional Flow Chart

Modified on Wed, 10 May, 2023 at 4:09 PM

The Dependency Wheel chart presents data in a circular layout, helping the users to identify and analyse dependencies between various data points, uncover patterns, trends, and relationships between different entities. It is a type of flow diagram, where nodes are laid out in a circle, and links are drawn between them.

The flow is multidirectional and can display relationship where the transactions can move from A to B, and also from B to A, and the line width indicates the weight or strength of that connection.

The wheel can be used in a variety of scenarios, such as tracking financial transactions in banking and finance, supply chain management, import/ export flows, or movement of goods, services or communications in any industry.

To configure the Dependency Wheel view in the demo below we picked the [Sender] and [Receiver] fields as Link fields 1 and 2 (identifying the ‘from’ and ‘to’ fields flow), as well as the link:

Link >> Sender name and the numeric value field that will provide weighting for the connections between the entities :

Weight >> Value USD

You can also choose to colour the connections from

Node >> Colour by value

This view will allow you to complement the dashboard with a new method to understand relationships and associate the entities in your dataset.

You can find the demo below and download the ioz file from our sandbox to check out the process and the chart configuration.
