Use Omniscope Cloud from Claude or ChatGPT

Modified on Wed, 14 Oct at 11:52 AM

Connect your Omniscope Cloud account to Claude or ChatGPT and you can build reports and dashboards, and the data preparation behind them, by asking. Say "give me a dashboard of renewals due in the next 90 days from these two files" and the AI creates the project, prepares the data, builds the report, can run it to check the output, and gives you a link to open it.

Everything it builds is an ordinary Omniscope project in your Cloud folder. A project is a workflow of blocks, each one a step such as loading a file, joining two tables or drawing a chart. You can open the project, look at every block, change one and rerun it, or carry on building it yourself.

Before you connect

  • An Omniscope Cloud account. Sign in to Omniscope Cloud at least once before connecting, so your Cloud folder exists.

  • Enabled for AI apps. Accounts are enabled for third-party AI apps on request. Email support@visokio.com to enable yours. Until then, signing in from Claude or ChatGPT is refused with a message asking you to contact support.

Connect from Claude

  1. In Claude, open Customize > Connectors.

  2. Find Omniscope Cloud and choose Connect.

  3. Sign in with your Omniscope Cloud login and approve the access Claude asks for.

This works in Claude on the web, Claude mobile and Claude Desktop.

Claude Code

If you sign in to Claude Code with your Claude account, connectors you have added in Claude are available there too. To add Omniscope Cloud to Claude Code directly instead, run:

claude mcp add --transport http omniscope-cloud https://omniscope.visokio.com/_api_/v1/cloudmcp

Then type /mcp in Claude Code, choose omniscope-cloud and sign in with your Omniscope Cloud login.

Connect from ChatGPT

Coming soon. Omniscope Cloud is awaiting approval in ChatGPT's app directory, and this section will explain how to connect once it is available there.

The connector's address

If an app asks for the server address, it is:

https://omniscope.visokio.com/_api_/v1/cloudmcp

Omniscope Cloud accepts sign-ins only from AI apps it has been set up to trust. If another app is refused, ask support@visokio.com.

What it can read and change

The AI works in your Omniscope Cloud folder, with your Omniscope permissions.

  • Read-only or making changes. Every tool is labelled as one or the other, so your AI app knows which actions change a project. Whether it asks you before a change depends on that app and your settings in it.

  • Viewer or editor. Where you only have view permission on a project, the AI can read it but cannot change or run it. Changes need editor permission.

  • Building. It can create projects, add and configure blocks, connect them, run them and read the results.

  • Running whole workflows. The AI can run a whole workflow, including its output blocks, the steps that write files, update databases, publish data or send email. It can also run just the steps up to a report, which runs no outputs. If you do not want outputs run, tell it so.

  • Emails. The AI cannot choose who an email sent by a workflow comes from: it goes from the sender set in Omniscope, or from Omniscope Cloud's own address if none is set. The AI can choose who it goes to.

Passwords and connections

The connector cannot set passwords, API keys or other credentials. You enter them in Omniscope, in the block's own options. The AI can then use connections you have set up, for example to read a database table, and it sees whether a connection has credentials set but not the credentials themselves.

Some services (Google Sheets, for example) connect through a sign-in page; you do that in Omniscope too.

Adding data files

The AI can create small text files in a project from data it already has in your conversation: tens to hundreds of rows of CSV, some plain text, or a JSON document. It adds a block that reads the file, so the data is ready to use. For anything larger, or for spreadsheets and other non-text files, upload the file to your project in Omniscope and the AI can use it from there.

Where your data goes

Two kinds of data leave Omniscope Cloud.

To your AI app. Whatever the AI reads from your projects (previews, results, files you add) is sent to the company behind the app, Anthropic for Claude and OpenAI for ChatGPT, under that app's own terms.

To services your workflow uses. Most blocks run inside Omniscope Cloud. These send data out when they run:

  • AI Request (asks an AI model about each record) and AI Insights (answers a question about your data) send data to the AI provider whose API key you have set up in Omniscope, such as OpenAI or Anthropic. Nothing is sent to an AI provider until you set up your own key.

  • AI Decision (labels or scores each record) sends each record's chosen fields (or all of them), with your questions, to Jev, an AI service from Typesafe AI.

  • Custom (Python or R) and AI Python script blocks run code, which the AI can write. That code can send data anywhere the script chooses. On Omniscope Cloud, each script runs in its own Docker container, separate from the Omniscope server process; it can still reach the network.

  • Data source and output blocks (databases, Salesforce, Google Sheets and similar) read from or write to the services you configure.

Our privacy policy covers how this data is handled.

Disconnecting

  • From the AI app: disconnect Omniscope Cloud in Claude's or ChatGPT's connector settings. If you added it to Claude Code with claude mcp add, remove it with claude mcp remove omniscope-cloud.

  • From Omniscope: in your Cloud folder, open the three-dots menu, choose Profile settings, and choose Revoke access on the app's entry. Access stops at once.

Using your own Omniscope server, or an API key?

To connect AI agents such as Claude Code or Codex to an Omniscope server you run yourself, or to a single project with an API key, see Connect AI agents to Omniscope with the MCP server.
