Introducing the Drill Down Feature in Omniscope Evo

We're excited to introduce a new feature in Omniscope Evo: Drill Down. This feature is initially available in the Tile View, Bar View, and Pie View, providing an enhanced way to interact with your data and gain deeper insights.

What is Drill Down?

The Drill Down feature allows you to explore your data hierarchically. For example, you can start with a broad category and drill down into more specific subcategories, types, brands, and finally, individual products. This hierarchical navigation provides a more dynamic and intuitive way to analyse complex data sets.

Key Features and Benefits

  • Hierarchical Data Exploration: Drill down through different levels of your data, such as category, subcategory, type, brand, and product, providing a detailed view at each level.
  • Interactive Navigation: Easily drill up and down within your data hierarchy to explore different data perspectives.
  • Selection Behavior Control: Customise how selections behave during the drill-down process with options like no selection, partially linked, and fully linked modes.
  • Breadcrumb Navigation: Breadcrumbs allow you to keep track of your navigation path, making it easy to move up and down the hierarchy. You can also customise the appearance of the breadcrumbs.
  • Child Tile Visibility (Tile View): In Tile View, an additional option lets you display child tiles for the level below, with adjustable opacity to manage visibility.

How to Use Drill Down

  1. Set Up Drill Down Hierarchy:
    • In your selected view (Tile, Bar, or Pie), go to the split options and select "Drill Down."

    • Configure your drill-down hierarchy by selecting the fields you want to explore. For example, you might choose Category > Subcategory > Type > Brand > Product.
  2. Explore Your Data:

    • In viewing mode, start at the top level of your hierarchy. Clicking on a category will drill down to the next level, such as subcategories.
    • Continue drilling down to explore more specific levels of data.
  3. Selection Behavior:

    • Choose how selections interact with the drill-down process:
      • No Selection: Drill down without making a selection.
      • Partially Linked: Retain your position in the hierarchy even if the selection is cleared or changed.
      • Fully Linked: Drill down and make selections that are tied together, moving back up the hierarchy if the selection is cleared.
  4. Customise Breadcrumbs:

    • Modify the appearance of the breadcrumb trail and adjust the text displayed for the top-level data view.
  5. Tile View Specifics:

    • Enable "Show Child Tiles" to display the next level of tiles below your current view. Adjust the opacity to control the visibility of these child tiles.
  6. Available in Multiple Views:

    • The Drill Down feature works similarly in Bar and Pie Views, allowing you to configure and explore data hierarchically across different visualisations.

Why is Drill Down Important?

Drill Down enhances your ability to analyse and interpret complex data by breaking it down into manageable, hierarchical layers. This feature is particularly useful for data sets with multiple levels of categorisation, enabling more detailed insights and better decision-making.

We hope this new feature will improve your data analysis experience in Omniscope Evo, making it easier to gain actionable insights from your data.
