Pinning Reports, Blocks, Tabs & UI panels

Omniscope enables report creators to design the entire data transformation journey: from data harvesting, transformation to analytics and dashboards.

During this process analyst will frequently need to switch between the various data containers - to look at 2 data sources before merging them on chosen fields, viewing simultaneously report's data source and visualisations, making changes upstream, and observing effects downstream... For all these scenarios it is useful to open multiple data aspects at the same time.

This is the main function of the humble 'Pin button':

  • on the main blocks menu (allows the user to pin the menu to the side, then open it via pull-out slider)
  • inside most data prep blocks (to pin contents of one or multiple blocks to the workflow canvas)
  • on the Report block (so changes to the dashboard are visible while the user is editing upstream blocks)
  • inside most data blocks, next to the Data tab (the data tab can be pinned, so changes to the options are immediately visible)
