Table and Aggregated Table - Summary Row and Charts

Modified on Mon, 17 Mar at 1:06 PM

Report creators can include a summary row in the "Table" and the "Aggregated Table" views.

(this row will be added to downloadable and displayed datasets in the 3-dot chart menu)

Summary row options are customisable and can be found in the Table's "Totals" menu (see image below), including the Totals title naming and styling of the summary row.

Users have control over each individual column's aggregation function within the summary row (accessible from the cog button in the column header > Field picker 'pill'), so for some fields the user can pick sum, mean, max or another statistical function, or leave the summary cell blank.

For the text fields the applicable summary functions are singleton (single value that appears in all cells), mode, unique value count, non-empty and empty count, min and max.

Depending on the type of data shown in the table, adding a chart within the cell can be useful for comparing values and visualising their position within a range (e.g. in the image below, we are comparing departments using multiple metrics). Alternatively, sparklines and spark bars can be used to display the timeline or breakdown of a single metric across categories.

Starting from build 2024.2 b21930, the Aggregated Table includes an option to represent data with either a single bar or a marker inside the cells. This creates a series of bars or a line connecting the cells, allowing for easy comparison of values.

From the Table > Chart menu select either a Bar (image below) or the Line mode.

Similarly - the Line chart can deliver useful insight.

Table setting > Chart > select Line

New options in the 2025.1 b22107 build allow users to add row-based sparklines and sparkbars.

In the Table > Chart section, users can now choose between:

  • Bars inside cells
  • Spark Chart inside cell
  • Line over column (as shown in the image above)
