Gmail as a data source

Modified on Fri, 28 Mar at 6:38 AM

To connect to Gmail as an IMAP or POP data source, in order to retrieve email data for use in Omniscope workflows, follow this guide.

First you will need to set up an App Password in your Google account. In GMail, open your profile menu, and "Manage your Google Account". In the next page, search for and open "App Passwords":

Enter a name, such as "Omniscope" and click "create". Copy the password to your clipboard.

In Omniscope, click Add Block and find the Email block (in the Inputs section).

After adding the block, open it.

Paste the password from earlier into the Password field here. It'll be a 16 letter code, perhaps with spaces, and after pasting it, you'll see it replaced by an unrelated number of dots in the field. That's fine.

Enter your account email into the Username field, e.g. name@gmail.com.

For IMAP, you'll need Mail server URL imap.gmail.com and Mail server port 993.

For POP, you'll need Mail server URL pop.gmail.com and Mail server port 995.

Hit Confirm, which will check your connection and credentials. The proceed with the rest of the block options to choose what you want to retrieve, and execute the block. You'll see the results in the Data tab.
